SMILE EYE SURGERY HOUSTON

The SMILE Procedure

For visual freedom.

Most of us have heard of LASIK, but what about SMILE? SMILE offers the fastest recovery of any laser vision correction procedure available in the United States today. Small incision lenticule extraction is abbreviated as SMILE. Through a small incision, a femtosecond laser is used to remove a small circular lenticule of corneal tissue from the middle layers of the cornea, leaving you with your best possible vision.

“Everything is sharper than I could have imagined. I don't have to worry about cleaning my glasses or removing my contacts.”

How the SMILE procedure works.

Dr. Sura uses a computer-guided laser to create a disc-shaped lenticule. He then removes this lenticule through a small opening in your cornea. Your cornea is reshaped, and your vision is corrected in minutes.

Is SMILE superior to LASIK?

No, but some eye types and lifestyles are more suited to SMILE. Both techniques are highly successful and safe for eyesight correction. While SMILE is another laser eye surgery option, its precision is comparable to LASIK. During your appointment, we'll decide whether SMILE can help you get the visual freedom you deserve.

“A large population of young myopic patients who underwent SMILE surgery achieved excellent refractive and visual outcomes, at least equivalent to modern LASIK.”

How much does SMILE eye surgery cost in Houston?

SuraVision's SMILE eye surgery is $2800 per eye or $5600 for both eyes. We are the only practice in Houston that publishes the actual SMILE price. After SMILE, you will "own" your vision rather than "rent" it from the contacts or eyeglass industries.

How much do your glasses and contacts cost you each year?

The average person spends more than $25,000 on glasses, contact lenses, solution, eye exams, and other related items. It's similar to renting your vision from the glasses and contact lens industry. Worse, these will NEVER correct your vision. Use our affordability calculator to determine how much money you can save by switching to SMILE eye surgery.

SMILE questions? We've got answers.

Does insurance cover SMILE?

No. SMILE is a laser eye surgery that is very similar to LASIK. One of these similarities is that the procedure is considered elective. Your HSA or FSA, on the other hand, can be used for SMILE.

Does SMILE wear off?

No. SMILE uses laser-guided precision to re-shape your cornea permanently and does not wear off. The effects of SMILE are long-lasting and our patients report a significant improvement in their vision.

Does SMILE hurt?

No. You will be given medication to keep you comfortable during your SMILE procedure. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities by the next day.

How long does SMILE take?

The SMILE procedure is completed in less than 10 minutes. The actual laser treatment lasts only 30 seconds. It truly is a non-invasive vision correction procedure.

What if I blink or move during SMILE?

Our lasers are built to limit and account for movement. Every step of the process is meticulously monitored. There is no cause for concern.

Who is a candidate for SMILE?

If you have myopia (nearsightedness) or astigmatism, SMILE is an excellent procedure for you. A thorough eye examination is required to determine whether SMILE is right for you.

Is SMILE a safe alternative to LASIK?

Yes, because SMILE only targets a sublayer of the cornea, there is only a very small incision on the eye’s surface. This changes the shape of your cornea and corrects any refractive errors.

How fast can I return to work?

The majority of our SMILE patients return to work the next day without missing a beat. The next day vision is usually 20/20 or better, and it continues to clear even more over the next few weeks.

Can I Use My HSA or FSA for SMILE?

SMILE is a Health Savings Account or a Flexible Spending Account elective procedure. If your company provides a health or flexible spending account, you can pay for SMILE with pre-tax dollars.

Live your best life with visual freedom.

Clear, crisp vision is closer than you think, and there is no better day than today to make it happen.
